Cafe Ommegang

Visiting Ommegang: Tour Regulations and Cafe Information, Summer 2016

UPDATE: Beginning February 2, 2017 the price for a tasting is $6 per person.

Hi, friend! Are you coming to see us this summer? Great! We can’t wait to welcome you. Here’s some updated information about visiting Ommegang to help plan your trip.

Beginning Thursday, May 26, we are open daily from 11 am to 6 pm for tours, tastings, cafe service, and for shopping in the brewery store. We’re also open for dinner from 6-9 pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. We are closed for BCTC (August 5-6), concerts (May 28, July 8, July 9, July 21, and July 24) and occasionally for other special events. Closings are posted on Facebook, on our website, and they are also on our phone message when you call 607-544-1800.

At the brewery, we run tours on the hour and tastings on the half hour. Tours are FREE and tastings are $5 per person and include a souvenir tasting glass. You must be at least five years old to take the tour and 21 years old to participate in a tasting. Tours and tastings fill up fast so we recommend getting to the brewery early to make sure you get a spot. Tours and tastings are limited to 20 people for each time slot.

Last summer we introduced new safety regulations for our tours.

  • No bare shoulders.
  • No open toe shoes.
  • No items in shirt pockets.
  • No dangly jewelry.

Coming to see us but only have a tank top? Do you only wear sandals in the summer? Not a problem! We have clean, short-sleeve work shirts, stylish CROCS, and disposable socks that we’re happy to lend to you for the tour.

These clothing requirements are for the safety of our guests, our staff, our brewery, and our beer. We appreciate your adherence to these policies.

Want to have a meal at Ommegang? We do that too! Here are a few things to know about our  communal dining café:

  • Your entire party must be present before seating.
  • We do not sit parties larger than 14 and we do not split checks for parties larger than seven.
  • If you are here with your children, please order for them to avoid double orders and double charges.
  • Please don’t move tables or seats after ordering. This will help expedite your service.
  • If you are going to enjoy a tour or tasting while you’re here, please don’t leave your children behind! Kids may not be left unattended at a café table or anywhere else on the brewery grounds. They must be supervised at all times for their safety and the safety of all guests and our staff.

Still have questions? Email info@ommegang.com and we’ll do our best to assist you. We look forward to seeing you at Brewery Ommegang this summer.

Cheers!
Allison

Winter at Cafe Ommegang 2015/2016

Winter is coming. And while we love to see the brewery grounds blanketed in snow, the cold weather means that we’ll see fewer friends at the cafe during the week. So for the next few months, the café will offer a limited menu Monday-Thursday. This menu features our popular frites, cheese and charcuterie plates, wings, and waffles. And of course, we always have more than a dozen beers to enjoy with your meal. Our full menu is still available Friday-Sunday and during dinner hours. You can view both menus here. The limited menu is on the first page.

Dinner reservations are available for Friday and Saturday from 6-9 pm. Reservations can be made online or by calling the cafe at 607-544-1800, ext. 825.

Tours and tastings will run as usual through the winter, on the hour for tours and on the half hour for tastings. Tours are free and tastings are $5/person and include a souvenir glass. The store is stocked with beer, wearables, barware, local food items, and fun gifts for the beer lovers in your life. Gift cards for the store and the café are also available.

If you’ll be in the area for the holidays, please note we’ll close at 3 pm on Christmas Eve and we’re closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day so our employees can spend time with their friends and families. Regular cafe and store/tour/tasting hours are 12-5 pm Sunday to Thursday. The store will remain open until 8 pm on Friday and Saturday nights while dinner is being served but tours and tastings will still end at 5pm on those nights. For more information, visit our website.

Stop by and see us!

From The Kitchen: New Fall/Winter Menu

Cafe Ommegang was closed yesterday for some exciting (and tasty!) staff training. Chef Evan spent the day teaching his kitchen team how to prep and prepare the new fall/winter menu. In the evening, the rest of the cafe team came by for a team dinner to taste each of the new dishes and suggested beer pairings.

Brian stayed for dinner last night and took pictures of a few of the dishes.

The menu is a departure from our summer fare and focuses more on seasonally-available produce, locally prepared meats and cheeses, and a richer dining experience. Spring/summer menu favorites like croque madame, chicken and waffles, the cheese and charcuterie plates, and the chicken sandwich (above, left) are still available. New dishes include cardonade a la flamande and confit salad (above, center and right,) waterzooi, and many more. Chef Evan wrote the entire menu with beer pairing in mind and his team can suggest a beer to go with each dish.

We started serving the new menu today (I had the portobello sandwich with sweet potato chips: smoky and delicious.) Find it online here or stop by to see us. The cafe is open from 12-5pm, daily.
