Cafe Omemgang’s next Great Beer Deserves Great Food dinner will be held on Friday, April 19 at Café Ommegang and will feature a menu by Chef Teddy Folkman, one of the country’s most talented advocates for beer and food pairing.

The event begins at 7:00 PM with a tasting of Brewery Ommegang and Duvel beers followed by a seated, five-course dinner after which Chef Folkman will meet with guests.  Seats are limited for the Belgian inspired feast. Tickets cost $75 and are available now at the brewery gift shop or by calling 607-280-4090.

Menu: Café Ommegang’s Wild Game Dinner (Sold Out)

Café Ommegang and Chef Dimitrios Menagias of City Beer Hall cordially invite you to their inaugural Game of Thrones themed dinner on Friday, March 15th at 7pm.  The already sold-out evening of decadence will be filled with wild game, drunken desserts and a first taste of the Brewery Ommegang’s highly anticipated  Iron Throne Blonde Ale – the first in a series of brews and the result of a creative collaboration between Brewmaster Phil Leinhart and HBO.

60 party goers will be presented with a 5-course meal, encouraged to imbibe and indulge in culinary delights of King’s Landing through a series of wild game dishes fit for and Lannister, Stark or Tully.

Chef Eric Fleischer Presents Beer Dinner at Brewery Ommegang on January 25th

On Friday, January 25, Brewery Ommegang will host a Great Beer Deserves Great Food dinner featuring Ommegang and Duvel beers paired with a menu created by Chef Eric Fleischer of the Red Caboose Restaurant and Bar in Oneonta, NY.

This is the sixth Ommegang beer dinner held at the café and the first one to feature a chef from an Oneonta restaurant.  Chef Fleischer earned a culinary degree from the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  He has worked at restaurants all over the world, including with Chef Gordon Ramsey in his New York City steakhouse and at several other Michelin-rated restaurants in New York City and in France.  Chef Fleischer enjoys working with top quality local ingredients and has prepared five savory courses for this event.

The menu includes torchon of foie gras poached in and served with Duvel Single, diver sea scallops seared and steamed in and served with Hennepin, Hudson Valley duck breast paired with Rare Vos, hazelnut-encrusted elk loin served with Art of Darkness, and an eggnog crème brûlée paired with Liefmans Cuvée-Brut.

Beer Dinner Recap: Cafe Ommegang’s ‘Festive Harvest’

If you missed Café Ommegang’s Festive Harvest Dinner, don’t fret. There will lots more Great Beer Deserves Great Food action in the future.  For now, let’s just savor the memories…

First Course: Fresh cherry tomatoes, roasted in balsamic & honey with toasted sesame seeds on a bed of fresh greens. Paired with Ommegang’s Abbey ale. 

This dish was a play on a Candied Apple, using a candied balsamic vinegar coating over top of cherry tomatoes, paired with the Abbey ale.  The sweetness of the tomato and the dark balsamic flavors from the coating paired well with Abbey ale’s full bodied flavors, highlighting the sweetness of the ale’s  licorice root and star anise.

Second Course: Harvest salad with radicchio and spinach, topped with grapes, dried apricots, raisins, and pine nuts in a citrus vinaigrette. Paired with Ommegang’s Witte ale. 

The contrast of sweet fruits and bitter radicchio created a beautiful balance,  like hops and malts in the fine Ommegang Witte.  The salad’s citrus vinaigrette payed homage to the orange peel and coriander in the Witte.  Overall, the pairing was pretty radicchio.

Third Course: Sweet pear & savory parsnip soup made and paired with Ommegang’s Hennepin ale.

An Ommegang cafe staff favorite.  A warm soup made with pears and parsnip.  An elegant balance of sweet and savory, the pear and parsnip soup was slightly sweet with a delicate balance of spices, supported by using the Hennepin ale in the preparation of the dish.  The soup paired with the Hennepin ale, which gave the dish a perfect compliment, finishing the soup with a light ginger taste and dry finish.

Fourth course: Chicken stuffed w/ walnuts apples and brie Paired with Duvel Rustica.

This entrée was paired with our new Duvel Rustica.  Stuffed chicken had a combination of savory and sweet flavors, varying from an aromatic brie, to a sweet, soft apple, to a slight crunch from the walnuts, served over a bed of carrots, red onion, and parsnip.  Vegetables were roasted with Duvel Rustica and were positioned on the plate to look like a pile of leaves for an extra fall touch.  A delicious butternut squash pilaf in accompanied the chicken and roasted vegetables. While each component of the dish was delicious by itself, it came together as a whole when all parts were combined, along with the Duvel Rustica.

Dessert: Forest fruit pie paired with Rare Vos

A delicious flaky pie with blackberries, raspberries and blue berries, topped with a whipped cream made with Three Philosophers.  The sweetness of the berries paired well with the caramel malt flavors.  The slightly peppery finish of the Rare Vos made the dish a delicious blend of sweet and spicy.

Festive Menu Slated for Café Ommegang Beer Dinner – October 26

Brewery Ommegang is proud to announce head chef Christina Carrasco and cook Bill Covert as the featured chefs for this month’s Great Beer Deserves Great Food dinner at Café Ommegang.

Carrasco and Covert have created a menu filled with fantastic fall flavor to include delectable balsamic candied tomatoes with toasted sesame seeds, a harvest salad with seasonal vegetables, pear and parsnip bisque made with Hennepin, chicken stuffed with walnuts, apples, and brie, and a forest fruit pie. Each course is paired with a different Ommegang beer to accompany the flavors. Hope to see you there!
