Snommegang 2017

Snommegang logoIn December we announced that we were partnering once again with America on Tap to bring back our Snommegang Invitational Beer Festival for another year of beery, wintery fun. This year’s event is Saturday, March 11 from 2-6 pm on Main Street in Oneonta, NY.

Tickets to the tasting portion of Snommegang are $50 each and are available now on the event website, Day-of tickets will be $55. Snommegang sold out last year so we advise getting tickets in advance.

More than 30 breweries and their representatives from across the United States will each pour at least two of their best offerings at the event. The beer tasting is accompanied by live music, food and activities – all within heated tents along Muller Plaza and surrounding businesses on Main Street. Music and activities in Muller Plaza are free and open to the public.

America On Tap Beer Festivals is the first and only national live event series dedicated to showcasing specialty and craft breweries from around the globe, while also delivering authentic, craft beer-focused experiences filled with live music, great vendors, and delicious local food.

Snommegang has become one of the region’s most anticipated winter events,” says Ommegang president Doug Campbell. “We in Upstate NY take tremendous pride and delight in our long, snowy winters, and we can think of no better way to celebrate the season than to host and event that pours the best beer in the world right here in Oneonta.”

“We are excited to partner with Brewery Ommegang and look forward to another very successful Snommegang Invitational Beer Festival,” said A.J. Bodden, executive producer, America on Tap. “Our goal is to deliver a more robust festival experience by providing the best of the local and national craft beer scene for an unforgettable and authentic beer experience.”

We’re also looking for volunteers to help with Snommegang. Volunteers will receive an America on Tap crew neck t-shirt and a souvenir America on Tap sample glass to take home at the end of the event. Sign up here:

We hope to see you at Snommegang on March 11.

2017 SCS: Glass Animals and Little Dragon

Earlier this week we announced that Glass Animals and Little Dragon will play their first Ommegang show on July 29, 2017 at 7 pm. Tickets for the concert are on sale now via DSP Shows.

Glass Animals, an English indie rock band, is well-known for their hit song Gooey. They released their sophomore album, How to Be a Human Being, in August 2016. Little Dragon is a Grammy-nominated electronic music band that hails from Sweden. This is the first show either band has played at Ommegang.

“This is an exciting new pairing for our summer concert series and we can’t wait to hear their unique sounds at the brewery in July,” says Tara Ritchko, Events, Hospitality and Visitor Experience Manager at Ommegang. “DSP Shows and the Ommegang team enjoy introducing concert goers to a variety of musical genres at the brewery and this match up continues that tradition.”

“We have had great success with this act in Buffalo and Ithaca, and we look forward to continued success in Cooperstown with an exciting support act to round out the bill,” says DSP Shows President Dan Smalls. “We strive to bring the best artist and fan experiences together at Ommegang, and we feel Glass Animals are a perfect fit.”

Tickets are $40 in advance and $46 at the gate. Families are welcome for this all-ages show, and children ages five and under do not require a ticket. Camping passes are available on a first come, first served basis for the first 1000 people to purchase a ticket. Camping is an additional $15 per person and available only through DSP Shows’ website. If camping does not sell out online ahead of the show, passes will be available at the gate for $20 per person.

DSP Shows (formerly known as Dan Smalls Presents) is a top talent buyer and concert promoter in New York and New England. DSP Shows has a proven track record of pairing the right acts with the right venues and producing unique and exciting music-based entertainment.

Brewery Ommegang is one of the premiere outdoor concert venues in Upstate NY, hosting a variety of national touring acts and more than 20,000 concert goers each year. A selection of Ommegang’s award-winning ales and non-alcoholic beverages options are available for purchase at every show along with festival-style favorites and locally procured dishes from a variety of local food vendors such as Origins Café, and Ommegang’s Café and food truck. The brewery’s natural amphitheater and gently-sloping grounds are a perfect venue to enjoy a show, rain or shine. Guests are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs for their comfort.

About GLASS ANIMALS’ current album
How to Be a Human Being is a multi-layered, nuanced album that uniquely splices together 40 years of sonic history in a way that’s emphatically forward-sounding. In the characters and themes explored, the record creates a world for fans to inhabit. With every listen comes further insight, not just into Glass Animals’ universe but the human condition itself. From the depths of “Agnes” to the danceable humor of “Life Itself,”  this second album is a zeitgeist-leaning, intrepid exploration into what makes us all tick, told from the viewpoint of four guys who have experienced life in its most extreme and unexpected form for the past two years. It doesn’t just connect with your feet – it connects with your brain, your heart, your soul

About LITTLE DRAGON’s current album
Yukimi Nagano, Erik Bodin, Fred Wallin and Håkan Wirenstrand make up Little Dragon, the zeitgeist band that blend strands of R&B, electronic and indie into beautifully and meaningfully crafted songs. Over the course of four critically-lauded albums, Little Dragon have established themselves as a band keen to never rest on their laurels – constantly prodding and playing with the boundaries of their sound. The band’s fifth album is currently in the making and tentatively planned for 2017.

Brewery Birthday Party 2016

RV Road Trip 2016

If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter then you’ve probably seen a bunch of posts lately about our 2016 RV Road Trip across New York State. That tour kicked off today and will continue all week as we visit cities from Buffalo to Long Island, sampling beer, giving away merchandise and talking about the NYS hops industry.

The western leg will visit Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Ithaca and Owsego, and Utica. The southern leg will visit select cities on Long Island, in Northern New Jersey and the Hudson Valley, Albany, and Oneonta. The dates for both legs of the trip are July 11-15 and below you can find the schedule for each city in the images below.

Along the way, our teams will visit NYS hop farms, restaurants, city hot spots, farmer’s markets, and well-known NYS sites while sampling out beer to customers and sharing information about the local hops industry. Hopstate NY 2016, an amber rye ale brewed with 100% NYS-grown hops, will be the star libation of the trip, and will be sampled out to consumers age 21+ at a variety of locations along the routes. The teams are also packing the RV with loads of free Ommegang gear to share with friends they meet along the way.

If you’re stopping in a city near you, come out and see us to share a beer and swap stories about your city! Be sure to take a photo of the RV and the team and tag it with #OmmegangRV2016 for a chance to win a prize from our friends at Big Green Egg!

Hope to see you out there!
